L-Isoleucine
Description
L-Isoleucine is an essential amino acid. It is also part of the three "Branched Chain Amino Acids"( BCAA) - the other two being L-Leucine and L-Valine. This amino cannot be manufactured in the body, and needs to be supplied in the diet, and was first isolated in 1904 from fibrin. L-Isoleucine, together with the other two branched-chain-amino-acids, promotes muscle recovery after physical exercise and on its own it is needed for the formation of hemoglobin as well as assisting with regulation of blood sugar levels as well as energy levels. It is also involved in blood-clot formation. Symptoms of deficiency may mimic the symptoms of hypoglycemia.
Isoleucine powder has a very bitter taste. It is available in both powder and capsule form. The powder is not soluble in water (it floats) and weighs about 2.0 grams per level measuring teaspoon.
